CORINNA STEFFEN

Associate

Corinna represents First Nations on a broad range of legal matters, with a focus on civil litigation, administrative law, and constitutional issues. Her practice centers on Aboriginal and Treaty rights claims and class actions, as well as defending Chiefs and Councils in legal matters arising both on and off-reserve.

Corinna has appeared before the Alberta Court of Justice, the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta, the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal, and various administrative tribunals on interlocutory motions and applications. She also has experience with alternative dispute resolution processes.
Prior to joining Maurice Law in 2024, Corinna articled at a boutique personal injury firm in Edmonton, before transitioning to a large Edmonton-based firm. There, she developed a broad litigation practice with a focus on insurance defence, administrative law, and Aboriginal law.

During law school, Corinna participated in a Gladue seminar and externship, where she worked closely with Gladue report writers. She completed an independent research project examining the role of narrative in law through the lens of the Gerald Stanley trial. Corinna was selected for competitive moots in both her second and third years, and was an active leader in several student initiatives. She served on the Student Articling Committee, co-led the Law Show, and was involved with the Environmental Law Students Association
