KELLEY HUMBER

Associate

Kelley worked as both a summer student and articling student with Maurice Law and joined Maurice Law as an Associate following her call to the bar in 2024. Kelley represents First Nations in a range of legal matters in Maurice Law’s Litigation & Class Actions group, including civil litigation, administrative law, and constitutional issues. Kelley’s primary focus is on Aboriginal and Treaty rights claims, class actions, and environmental legal issues including the duty to consult. She has appeared before the Federal Court of Canada, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Court of King’s Bench of Manitoba, and the Manitoba Court of Appeal. Kelley continually strives to hone her litigation skills and is honoured to serve as an advocate for Indigenous communities across Canada.

During Law School, Kelley was a Judicial Legal Intern at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and co-authored a book chapter on dissent and disagreement at the Supreme Court of Canada. Kelley also volunteered with REACH Canada to provide free legal referral services to people with disabilities. She has presented at a variety of conferences, including giving a presentation on administrative remedies and reforms to the Specific Claims Tribunal’s compensation limit. She worked in several internship and research assistantship roles dealing with legal issues related to UNDRIP, the Honour of the Crown, technology and privacy law, and refugee law. She was a leader in student organizations including President of the Rock-Climbing Club and a host of the Law School Show Podcast.

Kelley volunteers as a Board Member of the Community Mediation Calgary Society, which provides free mediation and conflict assistance programming to the Calgary area.
