
TROY CHALIFOUX
Senior Counsel
With a 30-year career, Troy brings a wealth of experience that is invaluable to Maurice Law’s clients. He began his legal practice advocating for First Nations in land claims, before joining what is now Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs of Canada as a Senior Negotiator. In this role, Troy continued his work on litigation, Specific Claims, and various partnership negotiations impacting First Nations in Alberta. He has played a key role in several settlements and remains involved in ongoing claims and inter-governmental negotiations across the province. Troy’s extensive experience working with the Government of Canada provides him with a unique perspective on the efficient and effective resolution of Specific Claims.
Troy is also a sessional instructor at the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Law and serves as Faculty Lead for The Banff Centre’s Indigenous Leadership Program in Negotiation Skills Training, where he has developed and led workshops for Indigenous communities and organizations across Canada.
Troy is of Métis heritage and was born and raised in Edmonton.
