Crystal joined Maurice Law in 2015, following many years of experience practicing law in both the public and private sectors. Crystal’s key areas of practice include corporate/commercial with an emphasis on aboriginal business & economic development, First Nation governance, legislative development, and renewable energy. Crystal has significant experience in corporate governance, energy law, reorganizations, development of corporate structures, investment reviews and sales/purchase transactions. Since 2014, Crystal has been involved in the area of renewable energy including advising on large joint ventures for solar, wind and hydro in various provinces including Ontario, Saskatchewan and Alberta. Some current work includes representing a First Nation entity in negotiations of large hydroelectric project and utility scale wind project valued at about $210 million dollars. Some key transactions and legal representation include: • Corporate restructuring of various corporations with holdings over 200 million dollars • Advised Clients with respect to various private investments • Established many Limited Partnership structures • Representation of First Nation entity in partnership of utility scale solar development in Ontario • Representation of First Nations entity in partnership in security services industry in resource industry region of Northern Alberta • Represented public potash resource developer in successful taxation negotiations successfully resolved • Represented publishing/media entity in multi-million dollar taxation matter successfully resolved • Represented various clients (public and private) in sale and purchase of shares or business assets • Created private investment vehicle for large real estate firm operating in Saskatchewan and Alberta • Represented private entity in multi-million dollar sale of electrical company to entity in Dubai, UAE Crystal has contributed her skills as Director to a number of corporate and public boards including: • National Aboriginal Capital Corporation Association (NACCA), Nomination Committee, (former) • First Nations Power Authority- Co-Chair and Vice Chair, Saskatchewan & Alberta, (current) • Founding Director, Enterprise Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan (former) • First Nations Bank of Canada, Canada (former) • Saskatchewan Indian Equity Foundation, Saskatchewan (current) • SIEF Investments Inc. – Chair, Saskatchewan (former) • FHQ Development Corporation, Saskatchewan (former) • Board of Governors of Lakeland College, Alberta (former)
