Blair joined Maurice Law as an articling student in December 2019 after completing his Bachelor of Laws (Honours 1st Class) at Bond University in Gold Coast, Australia. His unique personal, academic, and professional background gives him valuable insight into the issues facing First Nation clients.
After graduating high school, Blair spent several years working for a 100% First Nation owned construction company in Treaty 6 Territory. During this time, he helped deliver several important community infrastructure projects, including the OLCN Phase IV Water Distribution Network, Moosomin-Saulteaux Lagoon and SPS Upgrades Project, and the Points North Fiber Optic Project.
During law school, Blair’s studies focused primarily on banking and finance, tax, planning and development, and commercial legal practice. He was awarded Top of Class honours in Contracts, Banking and Finance Law, and Legal Ethics and interned at one of the Gold Coast’s leading real estate and development firms. His honours thesis analyzed Aboriginal taxation powers and associated constitutional issues in the context of the Westbank First Nation Self-Government Agreement.
